Shroff is born on 2 March 1990 to Indian film actor Jackie Shroff and his wife Ayesha Shroff (née Dutt). He changed his name to Tiger when he debuted in movies.[9][10][11][12] He is the elder of two siblings; his sister Krishna Shroff is three years younger.[13][14][15]

In June 2012, Shroff was finally signed on by Sajid Nadiadwala to make his debut in Heropanti.[28][29] Heropanti released on 23 May 2014 and proved to be commercial success despite receiving negative reviews from critics.[30][31] For his debut performance, Shroff garnered mainly mixed to positive reviews, with critics primarily praising dancing skills and ability to perform onerous stunts.[32][33] Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama appreciated his performance, saying “Tiger registers an impact in several sequences” and that he “scores brownie points in action and stunts”. Adarsh also added that “for a first-timer, he exudes supreme confidence”,[34] whereas Subhash K. Jha praised him for his versatility, saying “he emotes, he dances and yes, he can fight”.[35] However, Sweta Kaushal of Hindustan Times disagreed, calling his “dialogues forced” and said “his expressions do nothing in a given situation”. In spite of terming his performance “a little unconvincing”, Kaushal called his action sequences “admirable” and said he’s a “great dancer”.[36] Furthermore, Anupama Chopra, though noting that he has star-like qualities and “very solid screen presence”, called his dialogue delivery “off”.[37]

Shroff next appeared in Sabbir Khan’s action drama Baaghi (2016) along with Shraddha Kapoor under production of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, which turned out to be a box office success grossing over ₹1 billion worldwide.[38] Bollywood Hungama praised his action saying, “The action Tiger performed without use of double body is delight to see.”[39] Shroff’s final release of 2016 was Remo D’Souza’s superhero film, A Flying Jatt, alongside Jacqueline Fernandez.[40] Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and directed by Remo D’Souza, the film grossed ₹420 Million in India.[41] In 2017, Shroff starred in Munna Michael, along with Nidhhi Agerwal.[42] Produced by Eros International and directed by Sabbir Khan, the film met with negative reviews and collected ₹310 Million in domestic areas to emerge as his second consecutive commercial failure.[43]

In 2018, he starred in the action sequel Baaghi 2, opposite Disha Patani, which emerged as a major commercial success.[44][45] He will next star in Student of the Year 2.[46] He is also set to star alongside Hrithik Roshan and Vaani Kapoor in Yash Raj Films’ untitled project. This will be directed by Siddharth Anand and will release in October 2019.[47]
