Jason Momoa | Aquaman 2018 workout and diet

This video details Jason Momoa’s workout and diet for Aquaman 2018. Jason Momoa is reprising his role of Aquaman in the upcoming standalone movie. At 38 years old, Jason is a huge 6’4” tall, 214 lbs at around 12% body fat.

Jason first added serious muscle to his frame with the help of trainer Eric Laciste using the AR7 method (Accelerated Results 7), which is a high intensity and high volume protocol.

This protocol can involve training for 30 minutes, 2-3 times per day at high intensity. Jason used this to bulk up quickly for his role of Conan the Barbarian… and later again to play Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones.

For Aquaman, he worked with trainer Mark Twight using the Gym Jones method; the same method used by Henry Cavill to get in shape for Superman, and Gerard Butler for Leonidas in 300.
This training method includes lots of functional, full body compound movements.

Both training and diet had to be very flexible to work around busy schedules, and would adapt in volume and calories around shirtless scenes during filming for optimum conditioning.

Training also had to work around Jason’s love of climbing; and how much he enjoys a wide variety of activities.

“I like to workout in the morning, at the crack of dawn, and love to workout outside: whether that’s climbing, hill sprints, boxing, surfing, swimming, skateboarding – it gives me some time to think and focus. It helps me start my day off positively.”

For his diet, Jason was eating lots of sashimi, steak, avocados, quinoa and rice under the guidance of Stuart Walton.

On average he ate 1g of protein per pound of body weight, 0.5g fat per pound of body weight with the rest of the calories coming from carbs.

Stuart allowed some flexibility and tried to focus on foods that Jason enjoyed, even allowing him to have Guinness built into his macronutrient intake.

“I like my beer, I go for lean meat and green veggies when I’m leaning out because I like to save some calories for a Guinness.”
“I’ve got to get really shredded for Aquaman. For Game of Thrones, playing Khal Drogo was great. All I did was lift, eat pizza and drink Guinness. Now I have to watch my girlish figure.”

Aquaman is due for release in December 2018.
