Get Ripped – Bodybuilding Competition 4 weeks out

Watch my update from last week as I’ve dropped 1.2lbs and lost .25 inches in my thigh. Hear about how I’m trying to get definition in my legs and my philosophy on getting ripped, shredded, and cut!

Turns out I’m an idiot because I’m already nationally qualified and I didn’t even know it! For my division in Figure, top 5 qualifies for nationals and I placed 5th in my first show. I thought it was top 3!

I’ll have to qualify again since my one-year time frame has expired. Everything happens for a reason so I’m telling myself I wouldn’t have won in Nationals earlier this year anyway. I’m in much better shape this time around and pray to God I’ll qualify again!

Pre-judging is where the real judging happens. It’s also where the competitors will be on stage for a longer period of times since they’ll be making us hold our poses longer for comparisons.

The night time show is where they will announce the winners and award trophies!

LEG EXTENSIONS (2:22) is the main exercise I’m using to cut up my legs and get some separation in my quads!

– High reps, a lot of muscle contracting, squeezing, and mind-muscle connection
– Really burns and intense exercise

A few variations
– 2-3 sets of 100 reps with light weight really focusing on the contraction
– 3 sets of 100, 75, 50 reps with increasing weight
– 100 reps starting at the heaviest weight for 30 reps, then drop a plate and do 10 reps until you reach 100 reps total
*Partial ranges really focus on the tear drop (lower part of quad)

To add more intensity, you can superset or compound leg extensions with:
– Sissy squats (weighted or body weight) for 25 reps or failure
– Leaning partial leg extensions

Favorite Glute Ham Tie-In exercise is the Elevated Single Leg Hip Thrust. I show many variations. (Start Time 4:05)

ABS – I need to work on weighted crunch exercises every day that my abs are not sore. Every other day or every 2 days.

CARDIO – This has increased! It’s now double AM and PM sessions with 45 mins of low intensity cardio each session! At times, I throw in some HIIT in the AM sessions.

CALORIES – Keeping it the same since I’m doing so much cardio! 1600 calories, high protein, intermittent fasting, and drinking BCAA to maintain my muscle mass and size as much as possible!

Getting SHREDDED (Start time 5:10)

1) Drop body fat AKA Diet is 80% (Diet is always key!)
2) Weight lifting. Higher reps and isolation exercises are needed to get extra cut.
3) Flexing helps with separation too!
4) Cardio helps burn more calories if your diet & training aren’t enough
