Fitness Trainers Try the US Army PT Test with no Practice

In today’s video my good friend Carter Good and I attempt the US Army PT Test with zero practice beforehand. Carter and I met up in Arizona and I asked him to grab a workout. The gym was packed so I figured why not try something fun and challenging?

There’s been a few bigger names online who have tried the US Army PT Test with zero practice beforehand so I wanted to give it a shot. Carter had no idea what he was in for when I decided we should give it a shot. Frankly, I totally underestimated the test as well. It’s far from easy and when you haven’t trained specifically for it – it presents quite the challenge.

The US Army PT Test includes three tests – max push ups in 2 minutes, max sit ups in 2 minutes and then a timed 2 mile run. Groups are split up by gender and age. Here’s the targets we both had:

Carter is 25 and I’m 34 so we were in separate age brackets.

Carter had to do between 40 and 75 push ups in 2 minutes, between 50 and 80 sit ups in 2 minutes and then run 2 miles in 16:36 or less.

Josiah (me) had to do between 36 and 75 push ups in 2 minutes, 42 to 76 sit ups in 2 minutes and then 2 miles in 17:42 or less.
