Certifying Bodies For Fitness Trainers

Certifying Bodies For Fitness Trainers

There are different certifying bodies for fitness trainers. I would like to explain about four big players in the industry.

When can you increase your rates, or may be how much you are paid is based on what you are going to deliver to your clients. Because it’s a skill based industry. It’s like your knowledge your experience and your skills are going to stand out any of Certifying Body. Certifying Body is just going to create an eligibility for you to work inside the fitness industry. It’s not going to give you experience. So that’s why most of certification course will be conducted on weekends.

You can’t learn the entire fitness training part by couple of weekends or may be couple of week sessions. That happens only on your real time experience. So that’s why, so don’t confuse yourself about which Certifying Body. You can select any of these Certifying Bodies based on your eligibility.

The advantage of ISSA the most of the syllabus on ISSA is practical orientation and they will be helping you to put you as an initial fitness profession by how to market yourself, what are the real earning potentials, lot of things will be explained on ISSA. Very big advantage it’s an open book exam, case study based exams. So once you get the course material within the four months of the time you need to write a case study and learning experience and send it to California, there they will be evaluating, and they will be giving you certification based on your case study. That’s the bigger advantage for fitness trainer because most of the trainers doesn’t have bigger academic knowledge or maybe they prefer fitness industry because there is skill based industry that’s why they came to fitness industry.

ACE is also another bigger organization. Here the, some people that already with the medical background, they have a better academic qualification, they can go for ACE. Because it’s enclosed book exam and more of, most of the course material it’s like 65% of ACE course material is based on theory only 35% for based on practical thing.

An American College of Sports Medicine is like, most of the ACE guidance value will be taken from American College of Sports Medicine. May be if you are really from any kind of a medical background. If you are a Physiotherapist, or some kind of a paramedical thing. It will be better to go for American College of Sports Medicine. When you take any ACSM they have a specialty course. It’s called corrective exercise specialist. It’s like one step backed. Maybe, every single organization is providing lots of courses. For example ISSA is providing eighteen different courses for fitness trainers. And ACE will be providing ten to twelve different courses. And ACSM I think four to five different courses.

Out of theM I will prefer corrective exercise specialist, that’s a nice course. Once you have foundation in ISSA or ACE then you create an eligibility to write at ACSM. So all the four different Certifying Body is having a different set target audience. It is not something this is bigger than that and this is lower than that. As a fitness trainer we need to decide that to go which Certification to finish off. That’s it! Apart from it. It’s not, this is big, once you finish this close book exam, you are big. Open book exam, you are small. Nothing! Nothing like that. It’s just an eligibility.
Thank you!
