Liverpool’s goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has revealed Alisson Becker is making ‘steady progress’ as he continues to work his way back to fitness. Jurgen Klopp’s No 1 has been sidelined since going off injured with a calf issue in the opening day rout over Norwich at Anfield. Former West Ham goalkeeper Adrian, signed in the summer as the No 2 option, has been an able deputy with the return date for Alisson still unknown. ‘Ali has been working with Dave [Rydings] in the gym a lot to improve the strength and try to keep the fitness levels up,’ Achterberg told Liverpool’s official website.’In the last few days he has been out on the pitch to do some catching and footwork, as well as small passing drills.’He has made steady progress, but it is difficult to say how long it will take or how it will progress. It needs time and we cannot look too far ahead, so we take each day as it comes, see how he feels, and then make progress from that.’Liverpool have made a flawless start to the new Premier League season, winning all four of their games, conceding just three in the process.
