Is This The Best 212 Bodybuilding Competition Of All Time? | Generation Iron

It’s no secret that as a whole, the 212 bodybuilding competition doesn’t get the same kind of attention that Men’s Open does every year. Surely, this division has been growing over time – but it still can’t match the royal chorus of screaming fans when top tier Men’s Open competitors like Phil Heath or Kai Greene take the stage.

This year might be the exception.

The Arnold Classic 2016 gave us one of the most heated and exciting 212 face offs to date. Even though we didn’t have Flex Lewis in the line up… all of the competitors gave a truly impressive showing. Two in particular, Hidetada Yamagishi and Jose Raymond – put on a show for the ages. One that almost matched the final night of Kai Greene vs Cedric McMillan. In our minds, this competition will go down in the history books. And if you don’t believe us – take a look at this throwback video of all the posing routines. Will the 212 division at Olympia 2016 top this one? It’s going to be hard but we can’t wait to see what’s in store. Check out our throwback video above.
