Ever wondered how to be a model? In this episode Vince lays out the blueprint to becoming a fitness model.
Many people want to know how to be a model, but many of you don’t know how to pose properly, tanning techniques and many of the other “secrets” that go into fitness modeling.
Here are my 10 best tips on how to be a model, especially a fitness model:
How to be a model tip 1: Abs! You need abs if you ever want to have a chance at becoming a fitness model.
How to be a model tip 2: Get SHREDDED! Every fitness model must be extremely lean, hard and muscular.
How to be a model tip 3: Shoulder to waist ratio is important. Ever wonder why fitness models can make their waists look so small? It’s because many of them focus on getting bigger, wider shoulders which in turn makes their waists appear smaller.
How to be a model tip 4: Get a tan. Whether it’s natural or not, tanning makes you appear leaner. Also getting a tan will help your muscles “pop” more.
How to be a model tip 5: Find a coach/mentor. This one tip alone will help you get twice the results in half the time. Trying to do anything in life is much harder going solo. Mentors can help you find your best poses, help you train harder, and keep you motivated to name a few.
How to be a model tip 6: Practice, practice, practice. Don’t wait until the last minute to start practicing your poses. If you’ve watched any fitness model shows I’m sure you’ve seen those guys that just look “awkward” on stage. It’s because they waited until the last minute to practice their poses. Start practicing your poses at least 6 weeks before your show.
How to be a model tip 7: Look relaxed on stage. Fitness modeling is very different from bodybuilding shows. In a bodybuilding you try to flex as hard as you possibly can. In fitness modeling you have to make your muscles pop without looking like you’re trying to flex.
How to be a model tip 8: Keep your same routine. If you were using a bodybuilding/hypertrophy based workout routine during your bulking cycle, don’t switch to a completely different style of training to get ready for your fitness model show.
How to be a model tip 9: Use some type of posing oil. Whether you decide to use baby oil or not, oiling up your body with help bring out the definition of your muscles and make you look bigger as well.
How to be a model tip 10: Just enjoy the moment! Try not stress out before you get on stage. Stress releases cortisol which will make you look smoother.
