Learn beginner level pole fitness moves

Pole fitness combines strength training, dance and even a little bit of yoga. In the introductory class, we learned pole turns; pole jumps, which use upper and lower body strength to spin on the pole while in the air; and floor routines. Then we put these moves together into a routine.

Instructors are trained to give nurturing but technical feedback, and they won’t tolerate negative talk.

Overall, it was a challenging workout, and I will go back. It took strength, coordination and flexibility. It was fun to step outside my comfort zone. And when I did a move correctly, it was a rush.
