TEXT RECIPES
1. Barley and sprouts Khichadi (serves 2)
Main Ingredients:-
1 cup barley Daliya (broken barley)
1 cup mung Dal sprouts
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1 tsp olive oil
1/2-1 tsp desi ghee (Optional)
1 tsp Cumin seeds
4 cups water
Method :-
In a pressure cooker heat 1 tsp oil add cumin seeds and onions, once they start to turn light brown..add Daliya and roast it …at this stage you can add 1 tsp ghee but that is optional. Once the Daliya is roasted add sprouts and tomatoes. Add 4 cups water (use the same cup that you have used to measure Daliya ) add salt to taste, turmeric powder, spice mix …now bring the mixture to a boil, once it starts to boil. Cover with the lid and cook for 3-4 whistles. Once cooked mix very well before serving…serve warm for dinner.
2. Oats with vegetables and soy
Main Ingredients:-
3-4 Tbsp rolled oats
1/2 Cup soy granules
1 onion
1 tomatoe
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
1 tsp olive oil
Seasonal vegetables
2 cups water
Method :-
In a pan add 1 cup water to it add the soy granules and bring it to a boil …once its boiled remove from heat and keep it aside. Heat 1 tsp oil add cumin seeds and onion …one by one add all the vegetables in order of the time they take to cook. Add some water Cover the lid and let the vegetables cook a bit…don’t overcook the veggies. Noe add salt to taste, turmeric, chilli and spice mix. Add soy granules and oats cover and let them cook for about 7-8min.serve warm.
3. MultiGrain Daliya
Main Ingredients:-
1.5 Tbsp Oats Daliya
1.5 Tbsp barley Daliya
1.5 Tbsp whole wheat Daliya
1 Tbsp split mung Dal
1 Tbsp malka Masoor Dal
1 Tbsp rice ( you can use brown)
1 tsp olive oil
Some seasonal vegetables
4-5 cups water
Some spices of your choice
Method:-
In a pressure cooker heat olive oil add cumin seeds and onion …add some vegetables (I have used carrots and green peas) add salt to taste and other spices, add MultiGrain Daliya mixture. Add 4-5 cups of water …bring it to a boil, once boiled cover with the lid and cook for 4 whistles. Mix well before serving and Serve warm.
4. Carrot porridge
Main Ingredients:-
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup whole wheat Daliya
1 cup cow milk
2 cups water
1/2 – 1 tsp ghee
2 crushed cardamom
6-7 chopped almonds
For topping :-
Some milk if you like to add on top
1 tsp jaggery sugar
Some Raisins
Or 1 tsp honey
Method:-
In a pressure cooker heat ghee add cardamom..add Daliya and roast well, add carrots..milk and water …cover and cook for 3 whistles…serve warm and add topping of your choice.
Note :- it’s advisable to finish your dinner by 7:30pm or at least two hours before going to bed.
