How to lose body fat?
The topic is about spot reduction.
Many people have problems related to spot reduction because they have accumulated fat over their arms, abdominal muscles and their lower limbs over a period of time. So they intend on training only those group of muscles having accumulated fat.
People believe that by doing 1000 ab crunches they will have a flat stomach. They feel that by doing many biceps curls, they will reduce the fat around their arms. They think that by running on the treadmill for hours, they will have those perfectly lean limbs.
Is spot reduction really possible?
Do you really think that by increasing the number of repetitions and training regularly for days and months on that particular muscle group, do you really think that you will lose all that fat?
The bad news is that spot reduction is not at all possible. You cannot lose fat only on a specific part of your body.
For example – When you blow air into a balloon, the air is evenly spread throughout the balloon. It does not go left or right or to the centre. When you remove the air from the balloon, it comes out evenly.
In the similar way fat is spread out evenly throughout the body and if you want to reduce the fat around a particular part of your body, you need to focus on targeting the entire body fat.
The only thing that can help you shed this excess fat is a proper nutritious program. Along with nutrition, it is important to improve the functionality of your body through weight training and cardiovascular activities like running on the treadmill, going for long walks, swimming & cycling.
Challenge – For all those who have not been working out so far, I want to challenge you to walk for at least 20 to 30 minutes and comment on how you feel about your health and your functionality.
