Early extension is one of the most common swing faults among amateur golfers. About 70% of amateurs early extend, while only 1% of PGA tour pros do!
Early extension occurs when the golfer thrust the hips closer to the ball during the downswing. This change in position puts the body in the space where the arms and hands need to go, forcing the golfer to maneuver to get the club to the ball.
Your body imbalances and habits could be to blame for your early extension, and no amount of golf lessons will permanently fix the problem until you address and correct these issues. Let’s take a look at some exercises that will help you get rid of this problem for good.
Exercises:
Wall Calf Stretch
Soleus Stretch
Hip Internal Rotation
Deadbugs
Frog Pumps
Hip Twister
Lat Stretch
