Are you thinking about doing a Spartan Race? I did about 6 of them back in 2016 and 2017. They were so much fun! I really did enjoy that type of training and now that my knee has FINALLY healed back up, I may do one towards the end of the year in 2020.
When it comes to preparing for a spartan race, there’s a handful of key elements you need to get down to have some decent success.
#1, You need to be able to hang on bars, and hang on them really well.
#2, A lot of the race is running, so you better start practicing that.
#3, Get great at your burpees, and lots of them! Not only are they great for your conditioning, but if you happen to fail an obstacle, you will be prepared! Fail to plan, plan to fail.
#4. Master your single leg stability and balance training. Heaven forbid you roll your ankle. If you’re limber, loose, and practice a lot of single leg balance exercises, this will minimize the chances of you straining that area.
#5, You’ve got to be able to climb a rope. There’s a rope at every race. You don’t have to be able to climb it with no hands. But if you get the technique down, you can do this in your sleep!
