When they arrived on the health, fitness and well-being scene around five years ago, the Base Body Babes would never have expected to be where they are now.The Sydney-based personal trainer sisters have swiftly amassed more than half a million Instagram followers – and boast a fitness empire to rival the best in the business.Felicia Oreb and Diana Johnson sat down with FEMAIL to talk about how they reached the top of a super-competitive industry – as well as their tips for your health and fitness goals.Their number one tip is to back off the cardio.According to the girls, the key to building a successful career – whether it’s in fitness or another sphere – is to discover what you’re passionate about:’Find your niche, specialise and master your business,’ the pair told Daily Mail Australia.The Base Body Babes discovered this niche in late 2010, when Felicia gave birth to her daughter and they decided to set up a personal training course for her and other mums to get back in shape.Before they knew it, the business took off – and others wanted training. Base Body Babes was born from this, and these days, the girls – who are just 15 months apart in age – live by what they promote:’Lift weights, be active, fuel your body with wholesome and nutritious foods, stay hydrated with water and sleep well (we aim for a minimum of eight hours),’ they told FEMAIL.’We train 4-6 days per week, we train in the gym and we train with weights,’ they explained.’Our training is solely based around weight training. We do not believe the more traditional forms of cardio like ‘jogging’ are beneficial for the type of body or level of fitness or strength we are after.’Most people use the traditional types of cardio like jogging and long-distance running, because they believe it’s the best way to lose fat, get fit and get a cardiovascular response.’However, what many people don’t realise is that all of this can be easily attained through a well-designed weights workout.’So just how do the Base Body Babes work out?’We believe that for a beautiful lean and toned body, you need to combine strength and circuit days,’ they explained.’On our strength days, we lift heavy weights and keep the rep range low so as to maintain the intensity for the whole session,’ they explained.’On circuit days, we typically perform higher reps – 10-20 reps – and do several exercises back-to-back with no rest within the circuit. This is enough to get our bodies into the “cardio zone”.’The sisters match this with a well-balanced diet. Speaking about their day on a plate, the girls explained:’We are quite particular about the foods we put into our bodies. We personally avoid gluten, refined sugar and keep dairy to a minimum,’ they said.’We also ensure we have a component of protein with every meal.’A typical day of meals might be ‘two to three boiled or scrambled eggs, with two slices of gluten-free toast with organic butter, a side of fresh baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil and sauerkraut in th
