Paying to have your hair and makeup done professionally for a bikini competition will run you about $130. On top of paying for the tan, the suit, the shoes, the entry fee, etc. it gets to be a lot. You can absolutely do your own makeup for a competition and know that it’ll come out looking fantastic! Here’s a list of tips from the video and a list of the products you’ll need!
TIPS
–Avoid contouring, bronzing, and ESPECIALLY shimmery highlighters.
–Keep blush high on the cheekbone, and choose a shade that falls into the rosy or peachy family. Pinks and plums can appear clownish.
–Keep the eyes simple, and again, stay away from shimmery shades. You’re just trying to give your eye dimension that can be seen from the audience. Subtle pops of color and artistic flair that are beautiful in person are completely lost on the stage.
–That said, make sure you keep the lid of your eye a light shade. Don’t lose your eyelid in the contour you create or you’ll look like a raccoon!
–Don’t use eyeliner on the bottom, use a dark shadow instead. The eyeliner will look too harsh.
–Don’t forget to fill in your brows!
–I highly recommend using a liquid lipstick, or at the very least one with a matte finish. Highly moisturizing or glossy lipsticks can create too much reflection and are more likely to run under the heat of the stage lights.
